| The
Raw Honey Process
Honey
Pacifica has over 25 years of experience in the raw honey business
giving us the knowledge to get you the most gourmet honey available.
In order to preserve the delicate taste of each honey we produce
each of the flavors ourselves. Making honey demands driving the
bees to the different floral sources at specific blooming times
to ensure that the bees only collect nectar from the desired source.
All of our bee locations are in or around Southern California. The
bees will fly for miles finding flowers and ringing the nectar back
to the hive. The flavors of the honey depend on what nectars the
bees bring back.
When
the hives are full of honey, we bring them back to the Honey Pacifica
warehouse in Long Beach. There, we run the frames through a machine
which slices all the honey filled wax off the frames, which then
flows into the barrels. The wax, pollen, and bee particles all float
to the top, which we skim off which we pack and sell as our chunky
Cold Packed Honey. What is left is raw, unheated, unfiltered honey.
For those customers looking for the rawest honey, we produce raw
unheated Cold Packed™ honey,
which must be packed by hand. Not only does unheated honey have
added nutritional benefit, but it also has a unique, thick and creamy
texture. For those looking for a more regular
raw honey, we gently heat our honey to 100° and use a bottling
machine. This is just enough to get it through the bottler, without
harming the delicate flavors or nutritional benefits of the honey.
To give an added kick to the honey, we add natural fruit extracts
to our flavored honeys. We feature both
Cold Packed (creamy) and regular flavored honeys, such as Mango,
Lemon, Raspberry, Tangerine, Peach, and even a spicy Habanero perfect
for grilling or sauces.
